there have always been pizza elitists, although it usually takes the form of one style vs. another (typically New York vs. Chicago). There have been pizza topping elitists too.

Anyway, anti-elitism is boring and i don't care much for the topic so Ill stay off of it.

As a person who works at a pizza place; I can confirm how confused customers are to pizza.

What really is confusing when dealing with customers is when they can't tell the difference between pork, sausage, and Italian sausage.

- "I would like a meat lovers with no pork" pork = ham, pork topping, italian sausage, bacon.
"so all you want is a pepperoni and beef?"
- No I said just pork.

It's confusing, because pork topping is pork flavored meat filler, Some people call it sausage some just say pork, but pork is anything made out of pig, and sausage would also include italian sausage. And hardly anybody knows we have pork topping, and just assume sausage is Italian sausage.

What's really stupid is when vegans try to eat pizza. Because technically they should eat any of it other than the veggies and the sauce, because bread has eggs in it, and cheese has milk in it, and vegans shouldn't eat either, but don't tell them that. They call themselves vegan, but they are really vegetarians.

Another stupid thing is when diabetics eat pizza, because sauce and pineapple have tons of sugar in it, but I had somebody ask not to put pork in it, because they're diabetic.

One of the most tricky is when we get hindu's who can't eat beef for religious purposes. Yet they always get buffet, and the only thing we put out that doesn't have beef product is cheese pizza, but they always want us to make a veggie lovers.

Also, we have a cheeseburger pizza, but all it is, is a beef with extra beef pizza.

I'm the only person I know who likes anchovies. I always have anchovies on my pizza and no one ever asks for any of it.

These are the only pizza toppings that should ever be allowed:

Italian Sausage
Pepperoni
Bell Peppers
Onions
Mushrooms
Tomato
Spinach
Garlic
Olives

Everything else is not worthy to be placed on a pizza -- and if stray ingredients are included, the final product should not be allowed to be labeled as a pizza.

Bacon is the only exception, because everything is better with bacon.
